Day 1: Cairo - Alexandria
Today you will be met at your hotel and transferred by private vehicle to Alexandria where Cleopatra rolled herself into a rug to be smuggled into Julius Caesar’s Palace. The city is also famed for its lighthouse from antiquity, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the historic Library which was destroyed by fire but in more modern times reconstructed. Your accommodation has been reserved in Alexandria for two nights.
Day 2: Alexandria (B)
This morning you will depart on a full day tour with your private Egyttologist o El Alamein located 105kms to the west of Alexandria and site of one of the most decisive battles of World War II. It was here that 200,000 Allied soldiers under the command of Bernard Montgomery finally defeated Erwin Rommel – known as the Desert Fox. This battle which cost many lives on both sides is credited with leading to the surrender of the Axis forces in North Africa. The Allied Cemetery and museum are sober places to reflect on this significant WWII campaign. Also visit the El Alamein museum which holds many fascinating exhibits relating to the period. Return to Alexandria late afternoon.
Day 3: Alexandria – Cairo (B)
Today join your private Egyptologist for a half day tour of Alexandria. Your morning will begin with a visit of Pompeii's Pillar, a column of red Aswan granite standing some 90 feet high with a circumference of 27 feet. The pillar was erected in honour of the Emperor Diocletian. Continue with the Catacombs of Kom El-Shouqafa. These tombs were tunnelled into bedrock at the time of the Antonine emperors in the 2nd century AD for a single wealthy family still practicing the ancient religion. Although the funerary motifs are purely ancient Egyptian, the architects and artists were schooled in the Greco-Roman style. Finally visit Alexandria National Museum. The museum comprises more than 1800 archaeological pieces that narrate the Pharaonic Greek Roman Coptic Islamic and modern history of Egypt. One display features pieces picked up from the seabed at Abu Ker Bay and the eastern harbour near the Qaitbay Citadel. Upon completion of your tour you will be transferred by private vehicle to Cairo.

All sightseeing unless specified is on a private basis with a driver and guide. Sightseeing generally takes place in the cooler periods of the day ie early morning or late afternoon therefore on occasion some early starts may be necessary to avoid the heat.
Ramadan
During the Holy Month of Ramadan Muslims fast, abstaining from eating, drinking & smoking during daylight hours (approx. 7am-6.30pm). As a sign of respect, tourists should also try to refrain eating in public during the fasting hours. Restaurants and Cafes in Hotels and Cruise boats will be open, however limited alcohol may be available over this time. In 2025, Ramadan is expected to begin on the evening of Friday 28th February. After 30 days, or on sighting the full moon, Eid Al Fitr is celebrated & most public and private institutions close for at least three days.

Modest dress is required for entrance to holy sites – Men: Long pants, Women – skirt or long pants and shoulders covered.
